10 Valentines Gifts for the High Maintenance Girlfriend

Ok… I admit… I’m high maintenance.  I like nice things.  I like thoughtful things.  I like the best in quality.  You don’t have to spend $3000 on Louis Vuitton.  But chances are if you get me something, you better make sure it’s in good taste.  Be unconventional.

  1.  I don’t ever really care for flowers on Valentines Day.  But I recently saw these Maison des Fleurs flowers. . (;  The ones that come in the clear boxes are really cool too.  Traditionally I love long stemmed orchids.  But I couldn’t resist these because they are may favorite color! ❤tumblr_niy96iwzit1tf69j8o1_500

2. Maison Martin Margiele ‘Replica’ in “Beach Walk.”  ‘Replica’ exhibits uni-sex non-traditional perfume scents.  One of my favorite for men is “Jazz Club.”

 Normally $125. Only $75 HERE

3. Fit Bit Surge.  My passion is sports.  A boyfriend once got me wireless you buds for Valentines Day because he thought I’d appreciate it more than jewelry.  He was partially right!  Depends what kind of jewelry. (:

4. A spa day.  I got this a few years back after my boyfriend screwed up big time on Valentines Day.  It was a nice apology but I still don’t think it makes up for what he did. 😦  Heaven on Earth was my choice to go to. The Valentines package was $250 for a facial, massage and body scrub and wrap at Heaven on Earth.  The website is currently down, as to question if they are still open.  My other favorite spa’s are Ihilani.  However I am informed that the Marriott Koolina is to shut down and become a Four Seasons so I’m excited to see what they will have to offer because Four Season’s spa’s have always been my favorite.  Aulani has an amazing spa as well, but is extremely pricey in contrast to other two.  However, please note: Heaven on Earth does not have a full spa.  It’s a great spot however in downtown honolulu that provides quality services at a good price.  Only the best for a special girl.

5. OK I don’t like fake jewelry but I did have a very nice cocktail ring from “Carat” once.  Everything set in genuine gold, and high quality scientifically produced replica diamonds you cannot tell the difference.   The value is there in the quality and beauty of the pieces without the high price of diamonds. Luxury without the luxury price. btw… Emeralds are my birthstone. (;

6. Lingerie

Agent provocateur is probably out of the budget.  Some good brands that are in a good price range are Elle Macphereson, Cosabella, Betsy Johnson and Pleasure State. Victoria Secret is OK, but get her something better than “OK,” get her something really special.

7. Chocolate

All chocolate is not created equal.  If you go to the mall and pick up Godiva or Sees Candy that is all dandy and all, but if you go out and pick something that speaks her language, it shows you went out of your way to get something a little more thoughtful.  The high maintenance girl doesn’t want branded trendy spots.  She wants something unique.  It’ll cost the same too.

8. A do-it-yourself project

Whether she wanted an accent wall painted, a mural, a day bed, a new coffee table or painting.  Make it yourself.  Homemade stuff is the best! Work within your skill level, don’t turn in an arts and craft project.  Youtube a DIY video.  Or find a piece of cheap furniture on craiglist and refurbish it by refinishing it or lacquering or painting it.  These presents mean the most to her!

9. A PUPPY!

I have puppy fever so this is the greatest gift you can give me lol.  It is a good test of what kind of parent you are going to be. (; I’m still waiting for a responsible time to get my Klee Kai.

10. Write Her a Love Letter

Nothing is more sexy than when a man puts his feelings down into words.  I love my love letters and cards with substance more than any present I’ve ever received.  More than any floral arrangement, more than any diamonds or gold or Manolo Blahniks.  Those letters and cards are still in a box somewhere. (:

Hawaii the Local Way and Places to Visit if you Plan on Vacationing in Honolulu

If you’ve vacationed to Hawaii, chances are you spent $3000 for a week for overpriced water, expensive ocean front hotels in Waikiki and mediocre food at fine dining costs and inflated spa rates.  While this is the experience Hawaii wants to sell you to maximize the profits of the tourism industry Hawaii relies on, this is no representation of Hawaii.

Make a local friend or have a local tour guide. I mean don’t hire one from a tour agency.  Find a genuine local friend who will show you the sites.

Don’t stay in once place.  IF you plan on staying in Waikiki, try just to go for 2 or 3 days on the weekend so that you are close to nightlife, beaches and shopping.  Seeing Koolina, the North Shore and Kailua are all beautiful options.  Check Airbnb for houses to rent instead of expensive hotels.  I generally would avoid waikiki but it doesn’t hurt to stay a couple days.

Avoid touristy stuff that street hustlers sell you like luaus, parasailing, pub crawls, canoe rides, etc.

You can rent a car which is convenient, but if you are on a budget, the bus system is efficient to get everywhere you need to.  Renting cars in Hawaii is more expensive than other states.

bucket list things to do

Eat Hawaiian food.  “Ono’s” is rated as one of the top places to eat at, but I prefer the Lava Rock Special at “People’s Cafe” downtown, and you can order side orders ala carte.  The curry and squid luau is also particularly really good (luau leaf cooked with coconut milk) and if you want something a little more local try “Highway Inn.”

258s

Go snorkeling.  At 6 am at Electric Beach there are always dolphins here every morning and it is one of my favorite snorkeling spots.  Get passed the shore break and you’ll find a surplus of marine life among the water pipe exiting out into the ocean. But be sure not to swim in front of the pipe where the water exits, as it will push you out to sea.  People will warn you there are reef sharks but I have never seen any and there have never been attacks.  Besides, reef sharks are generally harmless.  It’s great whites and tigers you have to watch out for. I say avoid Sharks Cove as it is touristy.  I’ve enjoyed snorkeling Waimea Bay but have been told it’s a dangerous spot.  It had really beautiful reef life when I went.  Just stay away from deeper waters and past pinballs (the surf spot.)  Although Hanauma Bay is a tourist spot as well, it isn’t too bad of a snorkel spot.  Try to go at 10 am when the sun is nice before the crowd on a less busy day like a Tuesday and go outside the reef with an experienced diver.  The insides have been damaged over the years by mass tourism.  The outside of the reef is untouched.  I’ve seen turtles and seals and sharks here.  Because sealife is so abundant, I believe it attracts sharks.  Just stay close to the rock wall and you will be fine.  If you go on a day when there is waves, it will be too murky to see anything, as the dusty sand is fine at Hanauma Bay and clouds the water.

Experience Hawaiian fine dining.  I recommend Hokus for Sunday Brunch. The whole fried fish for dinner is also one of my favorites and for $150 can feed 4 people with all the sides. Although it is a bit pricey, all brunch’s in Honolulu are generally expensive and this is one of the best apart from Orchids at the Halekulani, so budget for a nice ocean front Sunday experience.  Alan Wong’s is a MUST HAVE and also one of my favorite restaurants.  A new restaurant I especially love is the Vintage Cafe at Alamoana Mall.  It is a “secret society” themed restaurant I would budget $300 per guest for dinner.  Inside the restaurant are millions of dollars of priceless art work, including 18 original Piccasso’s.

Do the local hikes. Some popular local hikes are Aiea Loop Trail, Pill Box, Koko Head, Ice Ponds, Olomana, Maunawili Wili and the Hawaii Loa Ridge Hike.  I also recommend driving Tantalus drive as it is beautiful drive and don’t forget to take a drive around the island to the North Shore to hike the Boy Scout trail in Pupukea.  Koko Head is appx 30-60 minutes of non-stop uphill track.  This is popular among fitness enthusiasts.  If you have time for an all day I hike I would to the Hawaii Loa Ridge Hike.  Often I hike 1-2 hours upwards and turn around as it is a 6 hour hike.  But if you have all day it’s a beautiful ridge that starts on one end and you finish by peaking the ridge and following the trail down to the other end of the mountain.  Aiea Loop trail is appx. 4 miles but easy enough for small children.  Olomana can be vigorous, as you have to climb to get to the first peak.  I haven’t done all 3 peaks because my friends always slow me down unfortunately. 😦   Ice Ponds is a great hike for kids.  It’s only 15 minutes on a paved trail then another 10 minutes climbing through mud with ropes down into a valley where the waterfall is located.  Check out “Island Trails” for some secret advanced trails on YouTube.

Go to the sandbar.  Make some local friends and make your way out to Kaneohe for drinking on the water.  If you are military you can rent boats for $50 a day.

kaneohe_sandbar

Hit shore break for some body boarding or some body surfing.  The 2 best shore break spots are Waimea on the North Shore and Sandys on the East side.  If you’re not an experienced swimmer please be cautious, these waves are unforgivable.  The first time I did shore break I was with my 7 and 8 year old nephews.  If they can rush overhead shore break, I guess so can I. ;/

Experience the local cafes. Some of my favorite cafes are Yogurstory on Keeaumoku.  Some of the best dishes are their specialty waffles, but I especially love their adobo big fat pig fried rice, and their prime rib loco moco. Bogarts Cafe in Diamond Head, always has a line outside, and has a large menu from bagel breakfast sandwiches to specialty waffles and pancakes to shrimp plates and strawberry salads and acai bowls.  Something for everyone.  Fresh Cafe on Queen St. is a great healthy spot with a wide variety or teas and salad and bagel sandwiches.  My favorite is the pesto pasta with a pesto turkey bagel sandwhich.  Kalapawai in Kailua is amazing if you’re going for breakfast deli style or the evening for dinner specials and wine tasting.  My favorite is the crab cakes with spiced marmalade and the ricotta spinach stuffed chicken. If you’re bugging for Korean plate lunches I would go to Dong Yang all the way in Wahiawa, perhaps on a drive home from the North Shore.  For $6 the giant plates are enough to feed 2 and this place is a local favorite spot for most.

Grab some Japanese Food and sushi.  Hawaii has some of the best Japanese influences and it shows in the variety and quality of restaurants available.  3 of my favorite spots are Naru Izakaya, Morio’s and Nobu if you are willing to spend the buck.  Nobu is higher in quality in Honolulu compared to their sister restaurants in San Diego, LA and Las Vegas.  For late night quality sushi, Evergreen Korean Hostess bar offers bomb sashimi plates + they have karaoke (:

izakaya-naru
Hit the ramen bars.  3 best ramen spots are Agu if you like tonkotsu rich broths, Nakamura if you are in for oxtail, and one of my favorite late night spots is Korean fusion Taiyo.  Kai use to be my favorite until they shut down.  The owner and cooks were all from Japan.  I think poor marketing and location did them in.  Don’t forget to get some ramen nabe @ Ichirki one of my favorite restaurants around.  They have 3 locations in Alamoana, Pearlridge and now Kaneohe.

Hit the LOCAL bars. NOT the tourist bars.  There is a beer brewery owned by the former bartender at Nobu’s called Pint and Jigger.  It’s over in Makiki and has a cool hipster crowd, delicious culinary appetizer bites and an amazing selection of beer.  Hideaway Bar is one of my favorite dive quiet spots if you are looking for rock music, pool, tattoo’d and bearded men and pin up and rocker chicks, and cheap beers.  Kelly Oneil’s is open late and is one of the few bars that has live rock bands.  You can smoke in here as well, and they serve really great pulled pork sandwiches outside late night.  A local favorite is Mai Tai bar at Alamoana if you want to hear live music in an open rooftop atmosphere.

My Foodie Trip To Japan

Ok, Japan was interesting.  I hated that walking was involved and many stairs.  By the time I would get lost, get on the right train and walk down to Ginza to shop, I’d be tired and head home for a 3 pm nap.  The shopping was great, but I could do that shopping in New York, Honolulu, Vegas, etc.  The Japanese and their toy breed dogs was adorable.  I stayed at the Roppongi Hills Residence, and right downstairs on the corner was a Starbucks where many liked to hang out with their dogs.  The pet stores that frequent the area had the cutest dogs ever! I couldn’t resist going in.

The Japanese culture is very reserve, and strange to me, but I get it.  I got kicked out of a spa for my tattoos, and got a lot of looks, but that’s ok.  It annoyed me out how OCD the culture as a whole is, maybe since I don’t give a fuck.  Maybe now I understand why my Japanese grandmother is the way she is.  Everything is perfect and clean cut and has to be a certain way.  Japanese are the perfect micro-managers.

The one thing that I will come back to Japan for is THE FOOD.  Oh my god it was amazing!  I notice that Japanese like pizza and pasta a lot, mainly carbonara.  Pretty much everywhere I went carbonara was on the menu.  So I enjoyed trying it.  Their bacon and sausage tastes very different, as it is kurubota, but it is delicious and has a unique flavor!   Spajiro is a place nearby Kai liked to eat it.  It doesn’t taste anything like what the Italians make but it has a nice little Japanese flavor to it.

Oh toro, the fattier and tastier part of the tuna is easily available everywhere, whereas is a delicacy that sells for $35+ a lbs in Honolulu.  Downstairs from my apartment was a Lincos, a grocery store so it was yummy to go down there in the evening and get everything 50-70% off from the day time.  This tray of oh toro was only $2.  You can get tempura, yakitori, among other things.

10616111_989047717788635_9089284247768929992_n

Downstairs from the back of my apartment if I walk through the garage and up an elevator is Keyakizaki Dori, a shopping complex that connects to Mori Tower and more high end shopping, there is a small fresh udon shop tucked away in the corner called Hashida Honten.  It was busy several nights, but I came in early at 5 pm at opening and snuck in.  They don’t really speak english.  One of the cooks did.  The noodles were delicious, but they were kind of rude.   Most people in Japan are generally very nice, but I guess everywhere you find rude people. It’s a small restaurant, all light wood and opens to the kitchen so you can see the cooks prepare around a bar like structure

I stole Kai’s goma (sesame) sauce and also had a plain ginger with kaki (tempura flakes.)  It was delicious!

We decided to walk up Roppongi one evening and stumbled across a ramen place. It wasn’t very busy but the tonkotsu ramen looked very good, so we gave it a try.  The basil gyoza gave it a unique twist.  I really liked the gyoza a lot!  And the tonkotsu brother was very rich and flavorful, but the basil gyoza, I would return for again. And for desert.. we had almond pudding.  Desert is always simple in japan and often a slice of fresh fruit or something simplistic.

I ate at Sarashina Horii.  This was also near my apartment.  I was so lucky to have such a great location.  This is a famous zaru soba restaurant and always has a line outside.  I came one afternoon when it was cold for the hot duck udon.  But the first time I went, I tried 3 different types of noodles, pork belly and teri chicken.  Everything was delicious, but the soba is something you definitely have to come here for! They have several variations of soba, white, buck, green and a flavored noodle.

Ikspiari specializes in Hakata ramen.  I found this place inside the shops, outside of disneyland on the 3rd floor.  It had a huge line in the evening, as it was a cold night.  So  I checked out of the Hilton early to get there for lunch.  I’m glad I got there when I did because there was no line and I was seated immediately.  As I left, there was a line of about 15 people waiting to eat.  I don’t think I could get sick of ramen, I think I could eat ramen everyday!

10731063_985490954810978_7048833903007287030_n

I don’t remember this place’s name, but my host took me here.  It is a very small shop on the main drag.  After a night of drinking at Oak Door at the Grand Hyatt we came here for ramen at 1 am.  This was my favorite gyoza in Japan.  It was so simple yet so delicious!  I tried so hard to find it again and was unable to 😦 so sad.

10730854_984759711550769_7464114321281543392_n 10703567_984759304884143_3401367979980979373_n

Oak Door was my favorite place to order a bottle of wine and listen to music.  Affluent clients, Japanese business men, celebrities, high end hookers that look like supermodels and generally a beautiful crowd hang here.  I sit at a bar and listen to the live music for the evening.  Mr. Mori, the owner of the Mori buildings was sitting right next to me and frequents his own establishment.

10616209_984759478217459_6630842532448627569_n

Had yakitori with my host one evening.  Don’t remember the name of the place, but everything is delicious and simple as always.  The whole snapper was my favorite.  I especially love snapper as it always has a light flavor and delicate tenderness to it.  The crunchy skin on the outside is the best part!

10734101_984760121550728_3477573575788608262_n 10394502_984760591550681_825144864430973324_n 1969340_984759878217419_5910703416192242723_n

Down the road there was a yakitori spot that had open windows and as often loud with patrons of the drinking sort.  This place looked fun but always had a long line.  So as usual, I come at opening and sneak in.  Bacon wrapped shiso pinwheels and ochazuke were my favorite.  I got Kai to try some beef tongue (but I didn’t tell her it was tongue) and she loved it! The crab cream karokke was my favorite that I’ve ever had!  It is a potato deep fried with a creamy crab filling with lots of crab on the side.  In America they call it a croquette.

Japanese candy is the best! For $1.20 ( just as much as a snickers or twix ) you can get dark chocolate with dried strawberries and raspberries on it.  This brand is everywhere in every store.  I had several of them.

10345982_981447275215346_1658410357013851108_n

Saizen is located on the 5th or 6th floor of Mori Tower at Roppongi Hills.  It was a random stumble upon and I’m glad we ate there TWICE.  My host told me the quality of the fish was better than what you can get down at Tsukiji.  They had great unique specials too that we were trying left and right.  Oh toro is my favorite!   For 3 people it was about $200.  I can think of some high end places that would cost a lot more for high quality sushi.  However, the atmosphere is very casual as it is in the middle of the dining area of a shopping complex.  The green tea warabi azuki mochi at the end in a very small portion ended the meal with a nice slightly sweet touch.  Deserts I notice in Japan aren’t always too sugary.  I guess you need to balance for the carbs from the noodles and rice!

Joelle Le Robuchon was nearby and I’d frequently pick up pastries.  I loved the fruit tarts specifically.  I tricked Kai (my 9 year old daughter) into trying foie grois and she LOVED it.  She said “mmmmm it’s so buttery,”  Then when I explained to her what it really was, she freaked out!  Come on!!! You loved it! LOL

Jean Fuckin George.  The Roppongi Hills location shuts down the Vegas location.  This was literally right outside the door of my apartment.  So I went not once, but TWICE.  The first experience was so amazing that I had to go a second time.  This has got to be one of my most favorite dining experiences to date.  Everything fused together with one story and flavor.  They use traditional french ingredients and techniques but also add small japanese flairs like adding shiso flower to the fried calamari for example.  Every bite was orgasmic.

the manager always talked to us at the bar and explained dishes and wine and was very cool.  There are only 2 or 3 tables upstairs and everyone else is dining around the bar watching the cooks prepare our dishes.  I got to know each of the chefs, where they are from, where they learned to cook, what their hobbies are.  It was a really close experience where everyone was socializing and meeting each other.  We always leave late, so the staff all walk us out and talk to us outside of the restaurant for 10 minutes.  They must love us.  Haha.  The manager also started hitting on me the second my date went to the bathroom. hahaha!  I don’t mind. This was my favorite dish.  It was so simple, yet so amazing.  The chef actually showed me a device they use to cut the egg perfectly.  He then whips butter and egg together with salt and tops it with caviar.  So simple, yet amazing!  I could eat 10 of those!  I think I could make it at home myself.

If you don’t know anything about wine then read up on these.  It’s a 1st class wine and there are only 4 from Paris.  It was the most intense wine I’ve ever had in my life.

Seared A-5 Hida Beef with carrot lime emulsion and carrot top pesto.  Thigh cut perfectly fatty and tender.  Hands down, the best beef I’ve ever had.

Since then they’ve changed their menu already.  They constantly change it.  I’d like to try the hairy carb risotto with nori and yuzu.  And the caramelized sea scallop with cauliflower caper raisin emulsion.  The new foi gras brûlée is seasoned now with made with black mission figs and toasted brioche.

Seryna is famous for their quiet, cute and dark atmosphere.  Great business spot or date night.  The atmosphere is like you are in a boat and there is a forest behind a glass. Great unique atmosphere.   Shabu shabu is a couple hundred bucks, it’s not a cheap place.  But this spot is famous.  The shabu is amazing. I also tried sharks fin for the first time.  To my surprise it was pretty good.  Gelatinous and delicate in texture.  The weird thing was I pet a shark earlier that day at the aquarium.  At Seryna, they bring out a lot of side dishes so by the time you get your main dish, you are almost full.  But the portions of the food are huge and the quality of the meat and crab legs are wonderful.  I like the soup they bring out at the end very much as well.  The Seryna House sake is the best.  It’s so delicate and smooth, it goes down so easy and before you know it, just a small glass has you buzzed. They also have a great wine collection.

There is a place called Matsurokuya that serves a lunch special of A-5 beef for 1300 yen.  That’s between 11-12$.  That is a deal!  Esp. for the portions, as they are large.  They only serve 50 sets per day for lunch, and there is always a line.  I didn’t get to go. 😦 I walked there several times but to my dismay they would always be sold out.

My #1 favorite restaurant in Japan!  Azabu Ramen.  The broth is so thick and rich and flavorful, I don’t even dare dream about drinking it.  The gyoza was perfect too.  I must’ve ate here at least 5 times in a month. I would eat early in the evening, but apparently eating ramen is a drunk late night to-do thing so they get busy late night.

SO now that you know why I’m so fat… to be continued.  I came home 150 lbs and see how I cut down 20 lbs to 130 lbs to get on stage at the Paradise Cup in just 2 1/2 weeks!

Studying Art in Europe

the Academy of Art University is having a study in Florence, Italy for 7 1/2 weeks and Paris for 3 weeks this summer. I  totally want to go!  Trying to plan.  It’s pretty expensive.  It’s $3200 on top of the airfare and tuition for Paris alone.  I get a cell phone, a metro pass and entry to all the museums and an apartment i share with 3 other students.  Sounds really fun.  I heard I can work at a nightclub too and make some pretty decent bank.

I SO WANT TO GO!

Who Wants to go to Asia w Me For a Month!

May is going to be a super busy month for me.  So, for my birthday I want to go to Asia for a month in June.  Itinerary 10 days in Bangkok… 10 days in Saigon… 10 days in Bali.   I have a hook up on tickets to Bangkok for only $200.  I might be able to 2 or 3 extra.  ONLY $200.  Once we get there it is super cheap. We won’t spend too much on food or services and shopping.  When I was in Vietnam I spent money like it was going out of fashion and I didn’t even barely spend $500 in a week with all the shopping I did, I had to buy an extra suitcase.  Here are some places and ideas of where to stay.  If we split it among 4 people it won’t be too bad.  WHO WANTS TO GO?! Where should we stay?

The World Unfolds as it Should

One week turned into 3 or 4.  I bought a one way ticket to Las Vegas a month ago, and I am finally leaving.  The plan was to get some new distributors started, make new networks, go to the Nu Skin Kick Off Convention in Anaheim and take my daughter to DIsneyland.  Life throws us curve balls.  I did all of that, but not in the order or with the people whom I had expected.  An old friend attempted a reconciliation, then screwed it up again.  I met the typical vegas douche bag male stripper with a Pamela Anderson look alike Spearmint Rhino stripper girlfriend, who tried to take me for a ride.  Except I forgot to mention I use to be a local and my friend immediately told me the gossip and his entire life story.  You think Hawaii is small?  Vegas is even smaller.  I ate so much Raku I can’t have enough.  I met up with new networks from all over the world.  I still maintained to diet and work out every day.  I miss my Kai bug!  I can’t wait to get home. 😦

Headed to 702

I’m headed to Vegas tomorrow and I think this trip will be interesting.  I’m going for some Nu Skin business… a little bit of gambling… and a lot of networking.  This will be a little different from all my trips and the years that I lived there.  I’m dieting and not drinking alcohol, also I will not be at Spearmint Rhino or Sapphires gentleman’s clubs this time.  Vegas looks a little different.

I have to figure out where are a few good places to dine without screwing up my diet.

Raku is on my list of places to go.  I’m sure I can find some grilled veggies and chicken that is healthy or some fresh fish picks.

I’m looking forward to going to the NEW Body English as well.  Body English use to be my favorite place to go before it closed down.  Glad to see it restored.  I didn’t care too much for Vanity.  It was kind of small.

Most people shun Lavo… but I like it’s small intimate NY style.  The water fountains in the entry are graceful and give a unique ambiance compared to other clubs in Vegas.  I’ve always liked this club since day one.

Alone in Vietnam

I came to Vietnam a week ago to open the Nu Skin market here with my up line and side lines of Team Aloha.  I guess you can say I’m a bit spoiled, I travel in style and need my space.  3 girls in one room spending time together can be annoying, so I booked my own room at a 5 star hotel, Nikko Saigon.  It was in District 1, the equivalent to a tourism area such as Waikiki, but still 5-10 minutes on the outskirts of District 1.  The hotel was a beautiful contemporary condo/hotel building, safe and highly secured.  The hotel had a contemporary eco minimalist feel with olive light greys ambiance.  When checking in the hotel, the hotel key is required to put in the slot to activate the electricity, an electric saving device.  At the door there were two switches, 1 for do not disturb and 2 for clean the room.  Making it simple to not be disturbed and simple to get your room cleaned at your convenience.  It is a very trust worthy hotel.  However, they were very strict about guests coming up to the hotel room after 9 pm and with meetings round the clock, I didn’t like that.

My fellow Team Aloha members lead by Alan Nagao set up shop in the Presidential Suite at the 5 star New World Hotel.  Being around all these “blue diamond” and “team elite” 6-7 figure earners has really inspired me to see how to do it right.  I think it will take me time to accelerate to that speed.  I found a pace that doesn’t kill me.  School, work and my daughter, I need to juggle a few things at a healthy pace. A light bulb went on in Vietnam and I’m making some changes, for the better. (:

There’s so many fun things to see in Vietnam.  I love the wet towelettes on the tables at every restaurants, the vietnamese coffee and fresh strawberry and watermelon juice.  The pho never tastes the same.  75 cents lunches.  Hailing a moped rider and paying him $2 for a ride.  The sad man with one leg that you pass by every day, is going about his business and changes his face dramatically to a long one while he begs, as if you didn’t see him seconds ago behaving normally.  Bartering things down to 75 percent asking price.  Chopard and Chanel watches.  Knock off handbags.  There’s so many things in Vietnam.  I saw a moped hit and old man with a cart of melons on the back of his moped in the middle of a large loop intersection.  Poor guy had to pick up all the melons in the middle of traffic.  The middle loops where multiple roads meet are always a mess of traffic to drive through of chaotic traffic running in all directions.  At first I was terrified to drive in the road, but I notice now that although in all the chaos, there is still a “rule of the road” and people still respect each other and watch out for each other.  I was warned of Vietnam, but I have come to accept that the people are very kind, just culture different.

I was sitting the cab while Alan picked up 200 lbs of fruit on the side of the road for the penthouse Nu Skin Team Aloha launch party when a beggar knocked on my window holding a baby with no diaper and a plastic cup.  I chased her down to give her my leftover fish from lunch.  She chased me back another block to let me know that my bag was open.  She could have easily ripped me off like a lot of people in Vietnam that I am reminded daily of by the locals, but she was very kind and thanked me for the food and told me that she was very hungry.

Wednesday, Team Aloha left.  But my side line in my Nu Skin upline, Steve Huang’s line is staying at Xuan Loc.  So I changed my flight, free of charge to next week Wednesday and checked into the same hotel as them.  I am currently at the police station with a Canadian girl that I met, Valerie.  She was ripped of $280 by the house maid while she was in the room.  She has been selling me r2 which was available in Thailand, but no longer is.  It’s amazing, I had to get a second bottle. I  don’t know what I’m going to do when I run out.  Maybe find me some bootleg r2.  What is R2?  Have you seen that movie limitless?  It’s like that on steroids.  The mental acuity and physical stamina and energy is amazing!

Vietnamese people are always trying to hustle you.  I was told my laundry would be 15,000 vnd (.75 cents).  WHen I got back it was 300,000 because its 15k a PIECE.  That would’ve been nice to know.  Ok… I know, $15 isn’t a lot to get my laundry done for me.  But then they broke the button on my Marc Jacobs dress, bleached my Victoria Secret VSX capri’s and stole my brand new white Hollister shorts.  Unfortunately I am already booked for 3 nights at Xuan Loc.  Some of the team members are moving hotels.  Steve and his line are going to Hanoi for 3 days and will be back sunday night.  I have the weekend to follow up on my downline’s contacts and maybe find a new founder.

I’m definitely on my toes and watching my back.  Keeping my money close to me.  Bag tight in my hands. I contemplated bringing my daughter here, but now I am realizing how freaky Vietnam could possibly be to a 7 year old.

Still

Still everyone must think I am crazy traveling alone.  I’m not with some of the side lines.  But I do have Binh and Hoang taking me around so I’m not really alone.  And hopefully I can meet up with Holly before I leave, Alan’s translator from Hanoi.  She really is an awesome girl!  I realy am more street smart than people give me credit for.  I’ll be fine alone in Ho Chi Minh City, I’m just taking time to regroup before I go crazy and kill it!  #teammillionaires!
