Shaholly: Honolulu, HI Model

24 year old, Native American Shaholly currently residing in Kailua, HI shares her views on modeling.

“I love modeling.  It’s what I do.  To me, modeling is not about perfection, but EXPRESSION, the ability to project a relatable emotion into a single frame…It’s talent not to be confused with beauty; beauty is but another element all on its own.”

I couldn’t agree more.  Some people think being skinny and beautiful is what modeling is about.  The talent of modeling, in a category of it’s own, is explained in Shaholly’s photos.  Shaholly first caught my eye on Model Mayhem with her exotic beauty and looks while I was recruiting models for a calendar I am currently working on.  I look forward to working with her in the nearby future.

Manning: Are you a local Hawaiian native?

Shaholly: I moved to Oahu in 2004 to attend Hawaii Pacific University, where I recieved my BA in Humanities. I moved to Kailua a year ago because it is my favorite part of the island.

Manning: How did you start modeling?

Shaholly: I have always wanted to model, ever since i was a little girl. Whenever there was a camera I always had to be in front of it regaurdless of who the picture was intended for. I pressured my mom into allowing me to try out for competitions when I was 11 years old and she never liked the idea.  It wasn’t until I came to hawaii for college that I was able to pursue modeling.  I have been shooting for 5 years now. I am currently represented by Kathy Muller Agency.

Manning: What was your favorite gig?

Shaholly: My favorite modeling gig was for Disfunkshion Magazine it was my very first cover shoot.

Manning: Who are your favorite photographers to work with?

Shaholly: My favorite photogs are Ryan Kerns, Eric Matsuzaki, Eliza Richards and Nimai Wong. Though I loved working with all of my photographers!

Manning: What’s your favorite beach in Hawaii?

Shaholly: Favorite beaches: Waimea, Lanikai

Manning: What’s up with your Native American heritage? What tribe are you?

Shaholly: Native American is not 100%~ my father was adopeted and does not know his true lineage though he has been told he is.
